A day at the zoo !!!

Went to the zoo with my sister and her son.  I took this picture through the glass.  They just stared at me  almost like they knew I was taking their picture.

Why we love the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage of northern Wisconsin

Here's a couple of photos to show you why we love camping, canoeing, and boating in the wilds of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.  The first photo is a sunset from July 28, 2011.  I took a bunch of these, hoping for a good one, and I think I got a couple.  I did have the vivid red feature activated, but only to help bring out the red in the evening sky.  That night we were treated to a dark, cloudless sky loaded with the millions, if not trillions, of stars God created.  We don't get to see many of these in Fond du Lac.

The photo above was taken five minutes after sunset.  The photo of the three girls watching the sunset was taken about ten minutes after the sun set, but the LORD was still providing us with a spectacular light show.
These next couple of photos are from the next morning.  I awoke early, about five o'clock, and couldn't get back to sleep, so I got up, took my camera and set about to take some photos.  I was happy to see the clear sky since it meant I might get some good sunrise photos.  As in the sunset from the night before, the LORD did not disappoint me with the sunrise.

This first photo was pre-sunrise, about 5:20 AM.  The water was still, and the sky, just beautiful.

This next photo was taken at sunrise, just as the sun was peeking over the trees of the islands to the east of our island.  It was taken from our campsite, Weber's Bluff (F12).

This last photo was taken on the east side of our island.  As I walked around the island, looking for photo ops I noticed tracks in the sand near the water's edge.  I haven't checked what kind of tracks they are, but I'm guessing they were made by a racoon or possibly an otter.  We did not have any trouble with racoons in camp, so I'm not positive on the identity as raccoon.  But, it made for a nice picture, regardless of who made them.

It is very obvious, when you are surrounded by the beauty of nature, that there is a creator.  These things don't just happen by chance.  To God be the glory.

What you see from above it all

This is a little of what you see from the top of the Lakeside Lighthouse during the Prom Paprazzi event.  Very colorful.  Don

A Mandarin duck in Wisconsin?

Thought you all would enjoy this picture of a Mandarin duck.  As you can see it is a very beautiful bird.  Evidently its been in our area for about a month.  Most people think that it has escaped from a game farm.  He hangs out with these two mallards.  The DNR has been notified, but not sure what they would do about it.

Daffodils and Snow

Our daffodils were just about ready to bloom when the last snowfall came down (April 19-20).  I sure hope this doesn't stop them.  According to the meteorologists, April snowstorms aren't that rare, but they aren't that common either.
HAPPY SPRING!!
